You're never alone out hunting. Mr Murphy usually tags along.

We're in late doe season here in SW Michigan and I've been going out to my blind every morning for a few hours, then a few hours before dusk.

Seeing it's late in season- and I've got one tag left -- and I haven't seen anything since regular season (Got 3) - I decided I better put in some extra hours.

So - I decided to stay out a bit extra - and only come back to the house for an hour or so - to grab a bite to eat and stoke the woodstove.

I came back in at 11:30 grabbed a bite and happened to look out the window.

You guessed it --- 5 big healthy does go running by -- through the center of the field. They probably passed within feet of my blind - and were in easy range.

I go back out - and stay till dark.

Didn't see a damned thing.

Murphy wins this one.....

It's like a casino.

The deer got lucky this time.

But...They have to get lucky EVERY DAY.

I'm the house.

I only have to get lucky once in a while. The house always wins.

Not a fan of rum, sorry....

If you've got a spot of Bacardi "O" - I'll take a nip.
