It's not a new idea; Australia does it, and they even elect conservative governments! But fundamentally, I don't believe this is something the unwilling should be "forced" to do.

National ID cards and proof of citizenship for the ID card would be a necessity. Let's go for and watch the left start backtracking.

I don't like this idea at all. It's obvious to me what Obama is doing. Too many people are lazy and don't vote, but if a ballot is cast under their name, who is going to know?

Like all that he wants, this also sucks big time. It's just another way of keeping track of and controlling the population.

Now Now comrades!
If all are required to vote then this would
create a huge voter block of those of
governmental dependency.
Consistent and ever present at each election,
a much better get out the vote effort than
the LibSocs* have now.
Just think of all the work that the tyrannyist
do now on that front that they will not have
to do again. It will also be good for the
environment. As it will create less pollution.
It is a philosophically retarded party's dream.

Comrades.

Heard an audio clip with Obama talking about it. He sounded pretty excited. Frankly, anything that excites this prick scares the hell out of me.

It probably was a trial balloon. Heard that they're backtracking already. The response apparently wasn't all that favorable. There's a little thing like the constitution---would require an amendment. But maybe he can once again try using his trusty phone and pen.

That's because it's tough to call yourself the beacon of freedom by forcing the populace to vote.

He'll change his tune next year when the Democrat party gets steamrolled by us.

There is new talk that the Nevada DMV might have to implement voter ID cards........of course our DMVs are not staffed for any new rush of clients. They also are the ones that issue the medical weed cards and the new "vehicle operators permit" for illegals.

Most DMVs already report four hour wait times.

I'd lmao if most of the voters being forced to vote leaned conservative. :biggrin-new:

Too many in our country won't inform themselves about the issues. They have no business voting.

A propos of this forced participation issue:

All forms of collectivism rest on a certain metaphysics. The collectivist tenets—in economics, that production is primarily a social effort; in politics, that the group, not the individual, has rights; in ethics, that the individual must sacrifice his interests to the needs of society; in epistemology, that the judgment of an individual mind is subordinate to the collective consensus—all stem from a deeper premise: that the individual is impotent to cope with reality. The individual, on this premise, cannot sustain his life on his own, and must depend upon the group for survival.
