Suspected for years of plotting to dismantle the U.S. electric grid, American officials have confirmed that Iranian military brass have endorsed a nuclear electromagnetic pulse explosion that would attack the country's power system.

American defense experts made the discovery while translating a secret Iranian military handbook, raising new concerns about Tehran's recent nuclear talks with the administration.

The issue of a nuclear EMP attack was raised in the final hours of this week's elections in Israel when U.S. authority Peter Vincent Pry penned (http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/16643#.VQrStksbe0t) a column for Arutz Sheva warning of Iran's threat to free nations.

Thanks Obama. Them Iranians are good peoples.

A knowledgable source said that the textbook discusses an EMP attack on America in 20 different places.

Once sneered at by critics, recent moves by Iran and North Korea have given credibility to the potential EMP threat from an atmospheric nuclear explosion over the U.S.

Oh joy!!! Wonder which places? Makes no difference really, the resulting chaos would be devastating to say the least.

Since reading 'One Second After' by William Forstchen when it first came out in 2009 ...

I have never forgotten it. Although fictional, was quite disturbing. For the few in here who have not read it, must tell you ... It will make you think, and wish that you had a horse, or at least a bicycle. I kid you not!

Here are a few quotes regarding the book from: http://bestsellers.about.com/od/fictionreviews/gr/one_second_after.htm

One Second After is a riveting and chilling tale of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the United States. It is a thrilling page turner, but is also so much more. The danger it illustrates is so great and so real that leaders in our government are now reading this book. Let's hope they take it seriously.

>snip<

William R. Forstchen is accustomed to asking "what if" questions. In One Second After, Forstchen asks not what could have been, but what will be the results of an EMP attack.

Electromagnetic pulses result from natural phenomena and in much greater strength from nuclear blasts. EMPs fry unprotected electronics. A nuclear bomb set off at a high altitude could cause electronics over a large swathe of the planet to fail. Little has been done to protect the US from this threat. This novel depicts what life might be like in the case of an EMP attack.

>snip<

One Second After is a masterpiece of distopian literature that ranks with 1984 and Brave New World. More important though than its role in our literature is what we do about the grave threat it portrays. Because, one second after the attack, it'll be too late.

Yikes! This truly is something to think about if it should happen!

I've read a lot about an attack like that. I believe we already have
smaller scale versions of weapons like that.

If we were attacked like that be sure the Left would blame Bush.:biggrin-new:

You know that Jim Bakker is using that book and it's author to convince people the tribulaton is nigh and to donate money to his ministry in exchange for powdered food, water filters and solar powered generators that look like toys?

Well, at least without electricity, no one would hear them.
