ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A group of American Indian actors have walked off the set of an Adam Sandler (http://pagesix.com/tag/adam-sandler/) movie production following complaints over stereotypes and offensive names.

Actor Loren Anthony told The Associated Press on Thursday that he and eight others quit the production of satirical western “The Ridiculous Six” after producers ignored their concerns about its portrayal of Apache culture.
Anthony says the script also included offensive Native American female characters named “Beaver’s Breath” and “No Bra.” He says producers told them to leave if they felt offended.
“Right from the get-go, it didn’t feel right. But we it let it go,” said Anthony, a Navajo actor who started work as an extra on the movie Monday. “Once we found out more about the script, we felt it was totally disrespectful to elders and Native women.”

Someone linked to a recent Breitbart article where they assert that the American left will soon demand that "Blazing Saddles" be banned. I'll see if I can find the link.

I guess it is a year old, but still pretty valid.

Disney no longer shows "Song of the South" nor is it available for purchase in DVD format. I have found some clips on Youtube but that is all. I loved that movie when I was a kid.

At one point, it was being sold in VHS format in Canada.

I saw it at a matinee in the 70s. My elementary school even had a spring arts concert with a "Song Of The South" theme.

Disney still includes "Zippity Do Dah" in some of it's greatest hits cds. My sister had one with it when her kids were little.

I feel badly for the actor who played Uncle Remus, he was really good in the movie, had a great singing voice and Disney is keeping younger generations from seeing it.

Interesting how Disney voluntarily bans this movie, yet Turner's channels love to show "Gone With The Wind" which features far worse stereotypes of black americans. I am not advocating banning either movie, just making an observation.

Why? There were no Yiddish speaking Indians?

Turner showed Birth of a Nation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation) last year which is considered the most racist movie of all time. I mean, it glorifies the Klan.

No one has a sense of humor anymore. I bet comedians have a hard time with all this PC garbage, as stereotypes are usually the source of their jokes.

I think it says in my linked story that "Song of the South" hasn't been available in the U.S. since the 80's.

Excellent comedians such as Dennis Miller, Chris Rock, Jay Leno (yes, he was a very good standup comic pre-Tonight show) and others won't do college gigs anymore. I thought PC was bad during the Clinton years, but it has only gotten exponentially worse.

I loved that movie when I was a kid.At least as of a few years ago, you could still actually purchase Song of the South on DVD in, of all places, London. It wouldn't play on a DVD player in the US, but certainly you could play it on your computer, which would readily compensate for any formatting differences.

If you're really interested, you can probably find a European format DVD on eBay, though you'll have to pay for international shipping, which probably will cost more than the DVD itself.
