If the Supreme Court wants the country to have Obamacare so badly, the justices should have to use it for their own health care, reasons at least one House Republican.

On Thursday, the Court upheld the current distribution of Obamacare subsidies in a 6-3 ruling (http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-114_qol1.pdf), prompting freshman Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) to introduce a bill (http://babin.house.gov/uploadedfiles/scotuscare_act_of_2015.pdf) called the “SCOTUScare Act of 2015,” which would require the Supreme Court justices and their staff to purchase health care on Obamacare exchanges.

Babin said (https://babin.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=299):

“As the Supreme Court continues to ignore the letter of the law, it’s important that these nine individuals understand the full impact of their decision on the American people.

“By eliminating their exemption from Obamacare, they will see firsthand what the American people are forced to live with!”

The name of the legislation was inspired by Justice Antonin Scalia’s dissent (http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-114_qol1.pdf), in which he criticizes the court for its interpretation of the law, writing:

“We should start calling this law SCOTUScare.”

Currently, members of Congress and most of their staff are required to get their workplace health insurance through the Obamacare exchanges, reports (http://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/republican-brian-babin-introduces-scotus-care-act-obamacare-ruling-119437.html) Politico.

Babin’s bill would add a similar requirement for the Supreme Court.
