Pre-teen murder suspect, 12, arrested 400 miles away from deadly shooting after more than a week on the run

Jarrell Milton, 12, was arrested Tuesday night in Minneapolis, Minnesota
The pre-teen had been missing ever since the June 29 shooting of a 31-year-old drug dealer in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska
Investigators believe Jarrell, his 17-year-old brother and a 15-year-old friend lured Jamymell Ray to a park and then shot him dead
The three are also accused of shooting Charles Fisher, 30, in the attack, which prosecutors believe was gang related
Prosecutors say they plan to charge all three suspects as adults

I wonder if the older kids were getting the 12 year old to do the killing as either a gang initiation thing, or because they thought he'd get juvie time for it and they wouldn't get charged, or a combinatioin of both factors. Either way, I would like to see them charged with 1st degree murder, too, and not just as accessories. The 17 year old is an adult and should face the maximum sentence, probably the same for the 15 year old, unless there are circumstances not known at this time.

12 is young. He looks like a little kid in the photo, but I don't know if that's a recent picture or an older one.

I agree, but I also would say that whenever you have a defendant that young, there is probably a long history of issues with the kid and the family, either the CPS/CFC type or mental health needs that never got addressed. This kid has parents, and probably lives with at least one of them.

I don't like that they are charging him as an adult, he is a 12 year old boy and a gavel won't change that. They should have sufficient sentences without twisting reality.

More than likely he's the product of a non-existent father. When you have a culture where over 70% of children are born out of wedlock, you have problems. Sadly, no one will address this issue and if you dare to you, well, look at what's happening with Bill Cosby.

Although sometimes neighborhood forces can be pretty strong too. I do think there's a long history here of neglect or abuse or just plain bad parenting.

He was just going to the store to get some skittles and an ice tea.
