U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) picked up 36 fugitives, 19 of which are major human rights abusers, in one week with two operations announced Friday.

ICE made their crucial arrests throughout the week up until Wednesday in Operation No Save Haven III and Operation Safe Nation. The two-part action taken by ICE “was the first of its kind” and specifically went after fugitives deemed to be human rights abusers and national security threats to the U.S.

Among those that ICE nabbed in Operation Safe Nation were an East African person tied to individuals that could threaten U.S. national security and was involved in drug trafficking. Another person identified by ICE as enough of a threat to be arrested in Operation Safe Nation was a North African individual, “suspected of having ties to international terrorism.
