Who do you think was the greatest of all time?

For my money, it has to be Herschel Walker.....

While Herschel Walker was big and strong he was not the type of runner that was famous for doing what he did in that clip once he got in the NFL. In the NFL it was his jaw dropping, NOS injected, catapult assisted speed that I remember the most. He running style was usually to jog or tip toe behind his blockers, find a seam then hit the afterburners. Because of his size he was strictly a North-South type of running back, but all he needed was to get loose for just a step. Just one. If he got that, you would not catch him. If he caught a screen or hook pass out in space, he was gone.

My vote for best college running back though would be Mike Rozier of Nebraska (Who's Heisman Trophy was sandwiched between Herschel Walker's and Doug Floutie's) or Earl Campbell, the Texas Rose.

Yep...couldn't disagree with that...but it's close with Barry.

You'll have to watch his 88 Holiday bowl when he went for 5 scores.

quality isn't that good.

Most of my exposure to either of those two was after they turned pro.

Both were incredible, but Barry was the best running back EVER in professional ball. I cannot imagine it being very different in college ball.

O.J. was the 1st to make a lasting impression on me. He was awsome.

He's the best I saw.

I never saw Archie Griffin, but two Heisman's is impressive.

Here's another highlight of Herschel.....
If you pay close attention you'll see another Hall Of famer for the opposing team.

Before OJ was a half back by the name of Ernie Davis. Was the firt Black winner of the Heisman Trophy.

I also think Fran Tarkenton was under rated in college and as an NFL player. Hell he been retired for 30 yrs and still holds about a half dozen NFL records.

The Pitt QB, Martino, Barbarino, Bambino, whatever, didn't he have a mediocre year or two in the NFL?:D
