What he said was true. There is a brand new 2009 328i currently sitting in the garage that drives like a dream.

The problem is it's a loaner. :p

Today was the day from hell. I was driving to the office on interstate 270, then going east on Int. 44. The problem is Int 40 is closed, so to accomodate the overflow of traffic, they narrowed the lanes on Int 44 to carve out another lane. There are NO SHOULDERS at all.

My car suddenly went from 65 to about 35, then 25. Luckily there's a bypass road that I could get off. I didn't think I'd make it up the hill. I managed to pull into a Home Depot parking lot. I called the dealer, then AAA.

I waited almost 2 1/2 hours for AAA to get there. Then they sent out such a high truck (needed a flatbed) that I ended up going into HD and borrowing a step stool so I could get into the truck. I'm only 5' 2".

There was an article in the local lib rag saying there's a 34% increase in accidents on Int 44 since there are poorly marked, narrow lanes and no shoulders. Had the car started that on 44, I probably wouldn't be here telling you about this. Scary stuff.

What will be scarier is my bill tomorrow. They think one of the sensors is out. The tilting steering wheel won't work now nor the power seats. They think they're all on the same sensor.

Glad I'm serving in a Middle Eastern craphole so your new Bimmer can guzzle down that precious 91 octane.

Heartless Fiend! :p

Not so heartless. Our Bimmer is a '99 with 122k miles. God only knows what it's going to cost to get that thing repaired. We'll enjoy the loaner til we get that repair bill.

Shucks, I have been trying to get SR to buy you a new one. You could have been injured or killed today. Look at like this; buying a new one is like buying an insurance policy from bodily harm. You can pick up a new 328 for around 40 grand less your trade in; I am sure they would sell that loaner at a deep discount.

Good advice. I was pretty scared today and never made it to work. I was furious at AAA for letting me sit that long, but at least it was in a decent neighborhood in front of the Home Depot.

Tell you what kind of day it was. I went in to the Home Depot to use their restroom. It was shut. They directed me outside to a Porta-potty. I was really ticked off. It was really cold here today.

Weird, I've been avoiding that interstate 44, as I've always been wondering where in the world you'd ever be able to pull off on that road if there was a car problem. Because of that I've been taking this slow secondary road all the way to work. It takes forever, but at least you can pull off.

I was only on that highway because Blue had run out of his phonobarb pills. Couldn't take a chance of his starting those seizures again, so took the chance. Guess Someone was looking out for me. Maybe I need to be good and go to church this weekend.

I'm going to start calling around to other dealers and see if any of them have any preowned Bimmer wagons in stock. I don't want to pay all that for a new one.

I know, they get suprisingly great mileage. I have a friend back at my part time job, delivers pizzas in a 1990 3 series convertable that still runs like a dream. I just had to get my chance in to hit him with a cheap shot (I'm taking the Obama high-road, soak those rich people!) :p

My condolences on the car by the way, certainly hope you don't get hosed on it.

I agree. :D

SLW, glad that you are ok. Hope things work out with your car and they quickly find out what the problem is, and the bill is less then fifty bucks!

I think the 4 -5 year old lease returns with extended warranties are a good deal. My wife loves her bimmer. And since her accident in May where he old car (a Mercedes E class) saved her life I am sold on Mercedes and BMW.

SR, you would bought a German car that runs like a dream instead of a crap car from one of The Big 3???

Congrats on the new bimmer!! They are fun cars. I have been wanting to get a 7-Series BMW and my Fiance said he would help me buy it UNTIL he rode in one. Now he wants it for himself!! He said the car is too big for me and that I would probably "curb" the wheels. :p

BTW, can you post some pictures? Would love to see it!!!

Now taking bets that Sara and SLW have a new BMW by February.

It probably would be an 07 or 08, as it's coming out of their loaner pool. Also thinking of a 328i wagon.

That's pretty nice. I can't afford it but I love the 6 series, I know a guy with a new 6 coupe that's freakin sweet.

Damn you Bimmer! I can't afford one! Quick, call the Government....somebody owes me a 3 series at least. :p

Don't want to pay for a new one. I got my 528i wagon (99) in 2001 for 12k with trade-in. I'm hoping to get as sweet a deal again, but who knows? It had 50k miles on it when I got it and has been a greyt car, til now.

Think it's going to start nickel and diming and multiple dollar'ing us now. Had a bill for $2,650 last month, now will owe a bit over $500 when pick it up tomorrow. These are about the only repairs ever necessary on it, other than the regular checkups.

The way the gov't is spending the bucks, maybe they could get a 3 series for everyone. :D

Shoot, I'd settle for a 135i. I'm not greedy, you know. :p
