Ok, the pup won his first herding trial a couple of weeks ago. I went along as informal photographer.
The Corgi is a herding dog, and this little guy has great herding instincts. We use a professional trainer and he got his first win on his first try.

Thought you all would like to see some pics...

Here's the little rat before his trial. His nose is stuffed with Mentholatum because there were some bitches in heat that were distracting him. That's why he doesn't look too happy.

Here are some other dogs that were waiting their turns...

Loved this dog...

A whole bunch of herding dogs. If you look close, those are ducks back behind the pen. The dogs were ignoring them.

Here's the bait...

And here is dopey during his trial. Sorry for the blurry, but he was moving fast and I was about 100 yards away...

I had a good time. Everybody was really nice and I didn't meet a single moonbat.

Cool. Good on ya critter for the win. :)

I have never seen a herding dog work for real. Just pictures and video. It's fun to watch though.

Congrats on the win.

Saw dogs herding at the Purina Dog Challenge when they were filming at Purina Farms in STL area last year. It was cool to watch. Also enjoyed the utility trials. We were too far away to see the dogs doing those water jumps.
