Poll: GOP image goes from bad to worse
Posted: 03:04 PM ET

From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican Party has hit a new low.

Just 34 percent of Americans in a Gallup Poll released Thursday say they have a favorable view of the party, down 40 percent from a month ago, before the election.

What’s worse: 61 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of the Republican Party.

According to Gallup, that unfavorable rating is the highest the polling organization has recorded for the GOP since the measure was established in 1992.

The poll of national adults was conducted on November 13-16 with a three percent margin of error.

The numbers are slightly up from a CNN poll released last week that indicated a 54 percent unfavorable rating for Republicans. Only 38 percent of those polled had a favorable rating for the party.

of course the GOP has high unfavorable ratings - the tack to the left has pissed off the base. We don't want to have to vote a democrat over a socialist - but that's what they gave us in McCain.

My sentiments precisely.

Yeah, methinks mccains presidential campaign was the biggest 'reach across the aisle' of his career. Let's see how many 'gangs of fourteen' he sets up now the dems are in control.

This is where the GOP needs to turn Right. Not hard Right, not far Right (and stay away from them damn way right Evangelicals like Mike Huckabee) but away from the moderates like McCain. They need to re-energize the base by injecting some fresh REAL conservative/libertarian blood into the party, people like Palin and Bobby Jindal & Pawlenty. They need to get a real firm Conservative foundation and purge the crap from the party as quickly as they can. No more McCain, no more Graham, bye bye Chuck Hagel, etc.

Yeah right. This will happen in the country that re-elected John Murtha. I see no hope that elections will stop our downward slide and I truly see a coming armed insurrection coming.

Palin and Jindal are libertarians?

One goes to kooky evangelical church, was baptized by a voodoo witch doctor, and the other claims to have seen the devil and partook in a demon excorsicm in college.

Please, Repubs, oh prettly please nominate one of these 2 bozos in 2012. Please!!! It will be an Obama landslide.

Xavierob is an idiot, but occassionally a liberal get's his nut. If we want to be defeated again...by all means nominate Sarah.

Why? Why go through all that trouble? We can just nominate McCain again. Pair him with Lieberman and that should do it. Hell, pair him with anyone. Even if Ronald Reagan was alive and young and we put him on the ticket with McCain as vp, McCain would lose.

It was not Palin that lost it for the Republicans, it was that McCain was never going to be able to win it. Hell, even John Kerry who in head to head polls as late as last year against a President Bush at a 30% approval rating still got beat by him, could defeat John McCain. Hell, if not for the fact that Palin was on the ticket, I may have voted for Obama over McCain just out of spite.

1. I said Conservative/Libertarians, never directly calling Palin or Jindal either but they're both clearly Conservatives.

2. Do you get your facts from a Cracker Jack box, or simply pull them out of your ass? I bet you bought the whole story that Palin said Africa is a country and not a continent too. jackass

3. Obama landslide? He couldn't even pull off a landslide this time, against a moderate pushover like John McCain.

I thought we defeated the Red Menace, either the US kicked it's ass or it died on it's own pretty much everywhere. What decade is this guy living in?

Well, considering he's thrilled to be with voters in the video at http://www.howobamagotelected.com/ it's no surprise. Voters that

• 57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

• 81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

• 82.6% could NOT correctly say that Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

•88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

•56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing). And yet…..

•Only 13.7% failed to identify Palin as the person their party spent $150,000 in clothes on

•Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

•And 86.9% thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!
