Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL (https://www.thestreet.com/quote/GOOGL.html)) Google has fired the employee that authored a controversial memo that suggested men were better suited for tech jobs than women.

The 10-page memo, titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber" went viral within Google last week and was first reported externally by the tech blog Motherboard. In it, the author says that women are underrepresented in tech because of inherent psychological differences between men and women.

To be sure, the memo has ignited a firestorm of debate on diversity in the workplace.

Really? I couldn't care less. :biggrin-new: That employee is a real dumbass thinking
he could get away with that memo in a Libtard company like Google.

I believe he knew that he was going to be terminated for releasing the memo and I think he acted bravely. To speak the truth to so a large and powerful organization as Google and say to hell with the consequences is something I wish more people would do. I'm sure he'll get another job and I hope it doesn't take too long. Hopefully what he did will cause other companies to recognize the liberal's false science for what it is, a mechanism to change and control the culture we live in. The libs take a grain of truth and extrapolate it out until it becomes a totally false narrative that they will treat as fact and use to bludgeon the business world into submission.

AFAIC, Google has the right to do what they did. CA law might say otherwise, and if so, I hope Google has to spend lots of $$ defending themselves in court.

Also AFAIC, I have the right to vote with my computer mouse. So I've changed my default search engine in Chrome to Duck Duck Go in the Chrome browsers in my home and work computers. I'm also looking for a different, non-Firefox, browser for my home computer.

It does depend on if you want to run Android on your PC, kind of a tinkering deal but I do it now and then.

I've used DDG before in Firefox and was happy with it. It took this move by Google to get me to figure out how to get DDG as the default search engine under Chrome. It wasn't hard, but it wasn't among the choices for default in Chrome's Settings.

I tried Opera 2 or 3 years ago. Blech! IIRC, it didn't render everything correctly on some sites I frequent, and was a bit awkward. I don't have the computer chops to try to run Android on top of Win10 (assuming that's possible). I've used Iron before and was OK with it. I'm not sure it's a live product anymore.

I tried MS Edge when this computer was new (and Edge was new). It was very not ready for primetime! I might try it again to see if MS got it up to snuff. I'm less POed with MS than I am with Mozilla (over the CEO they hung out to dry) and Google.

This whole episode is strange unless a lawsuit,
(which he is exploring) , was the purpose.
