I am ready to invest in some stylish boots... the Condi Rice type boots :

http://www.blackfive.net/photos/uncategorized/condi_boots_1.gif

They need to last me more than one season..need to be classic, comfortable, and they need to allow for an outrageously high instep, which probably means I need to have a side zipper.

I HATE shopping, and want to streamline this. I am not a shoe.. boot shopper, and this will be a huge purchase for me. For you foot fashion folks, what brands should I look for? What should I expect to pay? I'm hoping to keep it under $200, and have them last for years. Do classic looks like that last for years, at that price? Anybody??

Post pics!

Very nice!! I need a new pair of those. Okay, I really just need to get a new heel thingy on mine, but still!

Here's my new pair:

But you might like these: (which, by the way, I think I have to have as well, to replace the old pair:)

They're $228 at Ann Taylor, but you can probably get them on sale. I've got $25 off coupons for every $50 you spend, so I think I'm going to have to go get them!

Wow. Nice boots.

You could really cavort in those boots.

I enjoyed that Bangles video where they were cavorting on the beach.

People don't cavort enough, IMHO.

Or take pictures of cavorting.....in black leather boots....with spiked heels....:)

What is DSW? Those boots are nice. I just know I will have to spend half a day shopping to find something that I love, and is comfortable enough to wear for a few hours. Plus, the damned instep that has always kept me out of boots without zippers.

It looks like she could puncture the ball with those things.

Okay, they don't have one in your town. The closest would be in Newark, DE, or Concord, Pa.

Or you could just shop online here. (http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/index.jsp?cm_mmc=Google-_-DSW%20Brand_DSW-_-exact-_-dsw)

Usually the return policy online is good, so if they don't fit, don't like, etc, the only thing lost is the shipping cost.

You should go to the outlets near you and shop at the ann taylor store.

You should go to the outlets near you and shop at the ann taylor store. I will do that. I have never gone "specialty shopping" before, and have usually done fine at the mall (or yardsales), but this purchase calls for more. People don't give boots like this to Goodwill, or yardsales. I think I will wait until after the holidays when things go on sale. Will stiletto type boots be in style for a few years? I will only need to wear them for cavorting on my hot dates, and cavorting at holiday parties, etc. :D I don't cavort for work, so the boots will probably "ugly out" before they ever wear out.

Then you need to get them before Christmas!! :D

There will actually be some good sales before then. The stiletto heel has been in for a bit now. The odd thing I've noticed about boot shopping is everything is in...chunky heel, stiletto heel, square toe, round toe, pointy toe. So you can pick what you want.

Except for the riding style boot, I prefer my boots with a side zipper as well. Then they have the weird half zipper that doesn't go all the way to the top...I hate them! And some of the boots, although leather and expensive, look like vinyl to me. I prefer a very solid leather boot, although I fluctuate between the semi flat (like riding boots) hell, the chunky heel, and the stiletto. I also vacillate between having any kind of buckle or other decoration on them, and just a plain old boot. I have one pair of suede lace up boots that I like very much. They strike an interesting affect when I wear them to court. :D

Stiletto heel is good for awhile, Jumpy. Chunky heel is on its way out.

You live in Florida. Do they even wear boots in Florida?

No. I got to work in a bikini and flip flops every day.

I'm not a boot wearer; I like to be able to kick my shoes off from time to time, and you can't do that with boots.
As to buying shoes or boots at yardsales.... really? Those would be shoes or boots that other people have worn on their feet before you.

Yeah.. sneakers, and work shoes (sneakers) if they look brand new. You try them on in the store when other folks have already tried them on.
