Florida police officers disillusioned by Miami Dolphins players kneeling for the National Anthem decided to make a gesture of protest of their own Sunday, reducing the number of off-duty cops available to help with security at the stadium.

Dade County Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera told the Miami Herald that the number of cops working the event was about a third less than usual. 270 police officers were supposed to be at the game as opposed to the usual 400. As of Friday, only 175 had volunteered, prompting management to force some police officers to work the game.

“This whole movement started against police officers,” Rivera told CBS News. “And now it’s morphed into disrespecting the flag and the country.”

If something terrible happens at a Dolphins game, like a terror attack/mass shooting, guess who's going to get blamed?

It's always the cops who get the blame. There's a vote in November on a half cent sales tax raise to benefit the police. It's not good timing, because the protestors have been marching for over a month and blaming the police for being too hard on the marchers as they keep trying to block the interstates or disrupt people using escalators at the local malls. Fat chance getting it passed, but most of the City cops are looking for jobs in St Louis County, where wages are already higher. St Louis County did pass a similar tax, due to take hold very shortly. There's already a discrepancy in what is paid, now will be even worse.

Let's see, if I were in law enforcement and made less to work in a much more violent area, which would I choose? God help the people living in the physical City of St Louis. The residents had better lock and load, because they just might be on their own. It's very sad.

They hire and pay the police officers, they can hire any security company they like.
