Fourteen attorneys general led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman are filing an amicus brief Tuesday in support of a 17-year-old unaccompanied minor in federal custody seeking to have an abortion, citing her constitutional right to an abortion.

The teen identified in the brief as Jane Doe is 15 weeks pregnant. The federal government is seeking to block her abortion. The ACLU is representing her in Garza v. Hargan.

“Every woman has a constitutional right to an abortion – including unaccompanied minor immigrants,” Schneiderman said. “Forcing this young woman to remain pregnant against her will is not only cruel and inhumane – it’s illegal.

“We can’t allow President Trump’s radical agenda against women to gain traction anywhere in our country — and we’ll continue to fight to ensure Jane and all women get the justice they deserve,” he added
