21st Century Fox (https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/?symbol=FOXA) has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Walt Disney Co. (https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/?symbol=DIS), leaving behind a media company tightly focused on news and sports, according to people familiar with the situation.

The talks have taken place over the last few weeks and there is no certainty they will lead to a deal. The two sides are not currently talking at this very moment, but given the on again, off again nature of the talks, they could be revisited.

For Fox, the willingness to engage in sale talks with Disney stems from a growing belief among its senior management that scale in media is of immediate importance and there is not a path to gain that scale in entertainment through acquisition. The company is said to believe that a more tightly focused group of properties around news and sports could compete more effectively in the current marketplace.

Massive deal for Disney. Taking over 21st Century Fox would give them a massive number of movie lines. It also returns the X-Men movie and Fantastic 4 line back to Marvel.

Not that I am a huge FOX fan, but Disney is coming very close to having a monopoly on the entertainment industry. That makes me a little uncomfortable.

Disney is about as far left as one could be, not a good deal for unbiased news and should it take place you will see a sudden change in content on evening news and probably all the conservative people gone. That's fine maybe more people will finally switch to One America News the only non political real news organization out there, even FOX is owned by a liberal but he was smart enough to take making money more seriously than covering for a bunch of leftist thieves and liars.

The deal is only for the entertainment portion of Fox. Not for Fox news or Fox Sports. Those will remain under Murdoc's control. The deal is for 21st Century Fox and Fox Television as well as other networks.
