Bubba is slacking on the nightly jukebox thread, so I'll start one.

This song appeared in a rather disturbing horror movie. WAAY different than this stupid video, but it's the only one I could find of it.

Name the movie. Correct answer does the next one.

I have no idea and I'm not sure I want to.

I'll guess Saw.

PS - jukebox threads have not reached daily status yet, I don't think.

No, it's not Saw.

Equally disturbing though.

Nightmare on Elm Street?

Nope.

Filmed in a former Eastern Block country.

The audio on this system is dedicated to something else so I naturally cheated outrageously to determine the correct answer.

I'm guessing that doesn't count.

Hint: It's an extremely disturbing film and there is a direct but horrifying Japanese element to it. It is not a Japanese film, however. ;)

Hostel 3, ithink.

Almost.

Hostel.

It was the song playing in the bar when the idiots hooked up with the two hot chicks.

A photographic memory can really be a curse.

I didn't see that movie (Hostel).

I have seen "Sailor Moon" and some other anime. It is obviously that japanese men are as hung up as american men on teens girls in school uniforms who occasionally kiss their girl friends on the lips.

Hostel wasn't anime, and anime is an "art form" I've never understood, especially the anime porn, of which there is tons of on the internet.

The video with the song featured all female anime characters, including Sailor Moon and her friends.

Anime can also be brilliant and tragic. One fantastic example is Gunslinger Girl which is about a government orgaization which adopts terminally ill girls, brings them back to health and in the process brainwashes them to be undyingly loyal to their handlers (each girl gets one) when they are trained as assassins. They could get into anywhere to kill their targets because they are young girls aged 10-13. The series delved deeply into the girls relationships with each other (they all live sequestered in a secure compound) and their handlers. Some of the handlers see them as little siters and are very close to them. One is ofen physically abused by her handler. One handler sees his charge as little more than a disposable tool.

In one of the later episodes, one of the older girls is not only loyal to her handler but is also in love with him. In one of the most truly heartwrenchingly intense scenes I have every seen anywhere, she declares herself in a round aboutabout way to her handler and he does not get it. Dismisses her out of hand. She kills him and shoots herself.

Another amazing anime is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. This series deals with a secret government security unit (Section 9) that takes an offensive role against terrorism. The last half of the second season is awesome. It deals deeply with a tense political situation involving millions of refugees that had been admitted with after tWW3 and after years of supporting them a new government is voted into power and the refugees are no longer to be given their benefits and aid. Because the refugees had all setup communities in certain sections, they seek to secede and start committing acts of terror which slowly, episode by episode starts evolving into a shooting war.

Both of these series are extremely. Both deal in great detail with politics and the weapons and tactics are very high tech and portrayed pretty true to life. Moreso than in alot of live action movies.
