Attempted murder, other charges filed

Story Date 3/10/2017

A report of a break-in and armed robbery led to the arrest of five people on felony charges.

Brittany Nicole McNeil reported to the Wilkes Sheriff’s Office that two men dressed in black and with parts of their faces covered broke into her home on Old U.S. 421, Wilkesboro, about 3:30 a.m. Feb. 26 and robbed her and her boyfriend at gunpoint.

McNeil said they were asleep when the two men, armed with handguns, entered the residence.

Det. Jason Adams of the sheriff’s office said one of the men fired a handgun at the victims but no injuries were reported. A TV at the residence was hit with a bullet, stated a sheriff’s office report.

Charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary were Victor Manuel Cervantes-Ramirez, 17 of 392 H Anderson Road, North Wilkesboro, and Jah’Shawn Rakim Royal, 18, of 143 Harrold Mountain Road Extension, Hays.

Cervantes-Ramirez and three other people are also charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. The other three are Jesus Emillio Cervantes Ramirez, 20; Ambrosio Varona Cervantes, 45; and Danielle Ramirez Compos, 41.

Victor Ramirez and Jesus Ramirez are also charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

18-year-old charged with murder after man shot, killed in northern Davidson County

Story date 2/3/2018

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder in the Saturday morning death of a man at a trailer park in northern Davidson County, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Victor Manuel Cervantes-Ramirez of North Wilkesboro was found at his mother’s house Saturday around noon by Wilkes County deputies after the 5 a.m. shooting and taken into custody.

Derrick Demont Dewalt, 34, was shot in the chest at his trailer home on 708 Lot 12 Frye Bridge Road and died at the scene in what appears to be a drug deal gone wrong, Davidson County Sheriff David Grice said at a news conference Saturday.

He is being held without bond. (What a rush) :sarcasm:

(Story date 2/4.2018)

He is scheduled for trial in Wilkes Superior Court on Feb. 12 on charges filed as a result of a home invasion incident on Old U.S. 421 near Wilkesboro on Feb. 26, 2017. Court records list him with a $50,000 secured bond on the Wilkes charges.

Only $50, 000 bond on the charges from the first story ?

Was he charged as a juvenile in the first case? That's the only explanation I can think of, although in MI a juvie record can be used in adult court for any violent crime. Maybe he pled to a non-violent offense in the first case, or got some kind of deal for testifying against codefendants? Even then, plea deals are cancelled when a further crime is committed by the defendant.

I don' think he was charged as a juvenile in the 2017 case:

The Davidson County Sherriff stated

“We feel confident he was the person who in fact fired the fatal shot,” Grice said. “We understand he has 19 pending charging in Wilkes County including two attempted murders.”

The fact that he is talking about 19 charges from another county seem to refer to the crimes committed in 2017 in the article that I cited initially.
