Did you see the original?

Are you interested in the remake?

Here's a trailer:

I've seen the original several times. I actually like Keanu but this is another Global Warming/Humans Are Hitler message movie so I'll probably pass on it.

I wonder how people skipped the first one because they were sick of the atomic-bombs-will-end-the-planet meme? A bunch, I bet.

Calm Down! Calm Down! Calm down!

Bubba withdraws the unfortunately worded and misunderstood post and and extends the Peace Frog of Love and Friendship and and Happiness and Salubrity in the Spirit of Obama.

You didn't really call AARP did you....

They might revoke my magazine. I read that every month.

This is serious.

I was just coming to make a post about this when I saw this thread.

Yeah, I lost a lot of respect for Keanu Reeves when I learned the premise of this film. Another "Day After Tomorrow".

Now even aliens come from way across the universe to save us. That won't be necessary now that we have Obama! He arrived just in time to save us all!

Does that mean Obama is an alien?

You can't be an alien if you desended from heaven. What are you? Nuts?

It is? :( I'm disappointed.

Yep! It is just another example of the leftist propaganda campaign to undermine capitalism and our country.

Uh huh. The first one dealt with the aliens being angry over our engaging in nuclear war or whatever.
In this one, they're angry because us mean old humans are causing global warming and destroying the environment.

As with most of these movies, if I loved the original there is NO point in seeing the remake. The only 100% exception to the rule is John Carpenter's version of "The Thing".

I never saw the original, so I probably won't see the remake. I haven't liked Kenau since his Bill and Ted days.

All I know about the movie is the line from the Rocky Horror soundtrack:

"Michael Rennie was ill, the day the earth stood still
and he showed us where to stand.
And Flash Gordon was there, in silver underwear
Claude Rains was the Invisible Man".

The first one was pretty preachy, too. Man's warlike tendencies were deplored strenuously.

The first one had enough plausability (we just might effect those outside our world) at it's release. This new one looks like it............................sucks.

If Keanu Reeves is in it, that's a given.

Oh, please. His "acting ability" is nil. My favorite bad performance of his has to be in "Dracula" - with his high-school-play fake British accent. "Cahfax Abbeh", indeed.

Well, there is a good reason, IMHO, to go see this film...the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer will be showing before it.
