In an interview with Fox, Bush said the following.

"I'm a free market guy. But I'm not going to let this economy crater in order to preserve the free market system."

What exactly do we have if we surrender our free market system? It's the only thing that separates us from them. :(

Yep

When someone says "I'm a free market guy...BUT. Get out the shovel.

Meh. Most people in this country are "I'm a free market guy but" folks, or commies as I like to call them.

Barring a few scattered anarchists, no one actually wants a free market. Too scary.

I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. . . . I am sorry we're having to do it. . . . I feel a sense of obligation to my successor to make sure there is not a, you know, a huge economic crisis. Look, we're in a crisis now. I mean, this is – we're in a huge recession, but I don't want to make it even worse.

I just heard someone say this is like when historians suggest FDR "saved capitalism" or when we "destroy" a village in order to "save" it.
I never thought I'd say I'll be glad when he's gone.
