I do. I like seeing futility records being set. Major league pitchers losing 20 games in a season, college teams like Washington going 0-12, etc.

Watching epic failure is fun. :D

I don't remember if it was the Mets or Cubs who had a starter who had lost something like 26 or 27 games in row. He pitched well enough. But had a habit of getting up in the strike zone and getting one creamed. The game where I first heard about him the announcer said he did not win a game the previous season and since before the all-star game the season before that.

I'm all for it. We got the Redwings to set the bar for awesomeness, and we got the Lions to set the bar for sheer failure. Detroits got all the bases covered! :D

That was Anthony Young. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/y/youngan01.shtml)

He had a decent ERA and pretty good stuff those years but had absolutely no luck. How else can you explain a 3.77 ERA and a 1-16 record?

No... They already have the first pick. Let them leave the league with a little dignity. I hope they pull one off.

They have a chance today. They've got the Saints who have nothing to play for.

Would you want to be the team that got beat by the Lions?

Ah, but can they beat the Bucs losing streak of 27 games in a row!?! We are no. 1 at something!

Wait, we do have a superbowl and the Lions don't!

No. I want them to win one. It has to be pure misery to be a player on such a team.

Plus I want the Bucs streak to not be threatened. :D

Go Lions.

Back in the early 80's my father in law was a huge Fernando Valenzuela fan. Being from Mexico it was understandable. There was a two month streak during one summer when Fernando was pitching spectacularly. League leading ERA, lead the league in strikeouts, he was awesome. Did not win a single game. My father in law and I watched him lose three 1-0 games in a row. When he broke his losing streak he hit a homerun with a guy on base to win that game 2-1. The Dodgers just could not score any runs for him. I know it was heartbreaking for him to hold a team to one run and still lose time after time.

Sorry djones but the Wings, though a good team this year, have not set the bar for awesomeness in the NHL this year. That honor would go to my team, the San Jose Sharks with a current record of 27-4-3 (18-0-2 at home). Yes, I know the Wings beat us 6-0 the last time they played, but I consider that to be an abberation rather than a sign of things to come.

Exercise in Futility.

Gotta be painful for 'em.

But still, there's some humor....

Yay Detroit! YOU DID IT! WOOT!

If Miami could come back from a 1 and 15 season to an 11 and 5, then Detroit can surely --

Naaaaaah, who am I kidding?

What's funny is that i was really rooting for the Bucs those two years.

Green Bay was pretty bad along then and when they came to Tampa Bay the joke was that it was the Bay of Pigs aka the Toilet Bowl.

They lost today. So 0-16. Felt sorry for the coach after the loss today cause his job will in all probability be going bye, bye.
