View Full Version : Italian Archbishop: We must welcome young migrants to replace “dying Europeans”

Archbishop Gian Carlo Perego has preached to his parishioners that migrants are the “future of Italy“, asserting that “inter-mingling is an inevitable reality and a response to Italy’s demographic crisis,”.

“[Ethnic] inter-mingling is an inevitable reality and a response to Italy’s demographic crisis,” the archbishop said and added:

“The challenge for Italy is to reconcile a country that is dying with young people who come from elsewhere, in order to begin a new history. If we close our door to migrants, we will disappear. I’m speaking about current realities, not just points of view.”

With support for Italy’s right-wing league party reaching historic highs, the Archbishop has consistently condemned Salvini’s immigration policy, despite it being extremely popular amongst the Italian public.

Well, he is correct in one respect. Italy has a terminal demographic from which it will never recover on it's own.
