Cabinet Level "Office of Women" proposed in letter to Obama - (NO, this isn't satire)
American women and feminists, in particular, sprang to action in support of Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency. Now they are uniting to lobby the incoming president also to mobilize on behalf of women.
Activists and leaders of women's political organizations have called for the Obama Administration to create a cabinet-level "Office on Women." It would address issues of inequality, evaluate programs and policies as they impact women, coordinate policy between federal and local or state agencies, and strengthen outreach to women. The proposal was sent to Obama and Biden December 16.
It was signed by Eleanor Smeal (Feminist Majority),
Kim Gandy (NOW),
Lorraine Cole (YWCA),
Lulu Flores (National Women's Political Caucus), and 44 others.

The writers point out that women are severely underrepresented in Congress, with the US ranking 71st among the world's parliaments in representation of women. Therefore, they also urge the incoming administration to increase women's representation dramatically in the executive branch.
Perhaps this office ought to be called "Office of Liberal Women Only"..
