Wound up with this little guy a couple of days ago. He is a little over a year old. He lives a few houses up the block from my house. He would run over to my yard when he saw Shorty and Patches outside. His owner was an older lady who suffered a severe stroke over the weekend. She likely won't recover and will probably be placed in a nursing home once she is released from the hospital. Someone in her family knew that Morpheus (the pup's name) liked to come over and play so they sent one of her grandsons over to see if I would take him. I would have said no under most circumstances as I have my hands pretty full with Shorty and Patches. But I know this dog and like him. My dogs like him. He has been treated well by his previous owner. I could not just release him into the hands of fate.

Who can resist those eyes?

A pic of his last moments at his previous owner's house. I'm sure he has many pleasnt memories of his life there.

We spent most of the day at my in laws today and this is Morpheus in the backyard of their house.

Morpheus has a goofy habit. He does several tricks. He will do them as you command him but he will get bored. When he no longer wants to do them he will howl. "Roll over, Morpheus!" WOOOOOOO! "Play dead, Morpheus!" WOOOOOO!

Never a lack for love in a house with dogs in it.

Now that they are officially a pack, the three of them are going through their doggie rituals to determine their status within the little society.

When it was just Shorty and Patches, Patches would have all his toys taken by Shorty. Patches got a toy and Shorty would take it from him. Shorty would not even have to play tug-o-war for it. If Patches had it all Shorty had to do was take a hold of it and Patches would drop it. It does not work that way with Morpheus. Morpheus likes a good tug-o-war so when Shorty grabs his toy he pulls back. This confuses Shorty as he has never had to actually do nothing more a toy than demand it.

What is really funny is that after Morpheus wins the tug-o-war he goes and pushes the toy back into Shorty's face like he is asking for a rematch.

Dogs love us even with all our faults. I could not let this little guy go who knows where just because he is being a dog and....barks.

Right now we have four. We've had as many as 13 and as few as three. 6...maybe 8 is a good number.

Nice dog. :)

Morpheus' new Mommy bought him a sweater from her Alma Mater. His previous owner had him all decked out with a Texas Longhorn collar and bandana. Mrs. Speedy went to UT so she will just keep him a Longhorn fan. I was hoping to swing him over to the Aggies.

I understand - I'm just saying I could not take the dog in myself. I'd want to kill him all the time and that's not fair to him or anyone else. I'd be looking for a family like yours to take him in. ;)
