My 73 year old Dad, a former Republican, now Obama supporter, blows a gasket at Rethug "friends" (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6384606)

My dad, white guy, a former Republican who grew up in segregated schools here in Texas, is voting for Obama - yes hell has frozen over. He gets frequent email crap from his retiree friends which is a bunch of recycled Rush Limbaugh crap talking about how the Democrats love terrorists, the Democrats criticize and don't appreciate our troops, and we shouldn't complain about torture, etc. etc. Anyway, my dad blew a gasket and here is his response. I thought I'd share it with you b/c it is great and it shows that people can and do change. My father also told me that he feels that if he votes for Obama he can help cleanse the stain or racism in our country. So here it is:

"Dear friends:
It is interesting to me that disagreement with the management of the war and the treatment of the "detainees" is twisted to be a criticism of our individual soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. With the exception of a few bad apples, I have heard no one say anything negative about our troopers. Yet slanderous crap like this keeps circulating.

"The propagandists for the Bush administration are genetically incapable of admitting they screwed the poochie in Iraq, so they must defend to the death their actions there. John McCain plans to ride that mule as far as it will go.

"For the record, I think this administration's middle east policy is a catastrophe, and the conduct of the war in Iraq is a disgrace. Our country continues to be the greatest ever, but we have a bunch of incompetent leaders. They worry about gay marriage while the Taliban regain strength in Afghanistan. They get all hot and bothered over Obama's flag pen while car bombs go off in Baghdad. They are beating the drums about Iran while our armed forces are stretched to the limit in Iraq and Afghanistan. Could it be because George W. Bush has the military expertise of a toadstool? And Senator McCain, whom I respect as an American hero, thinks this is all just hunky-dory. Jesus H. Christ on a crutch! Wake up and smell the coffee!

"And don't anyone say I am not a patriot. I'm too old to be a soldier now, but I was once a long time ago. I know that a soldier overseas thinks about one thing more than anything else - going home - even when there is no fighting. Senator McCain says that's not important. Well, he's dead wrong on that.

"Everyone in this great country is entitled to his or her own opinion, but not his own facts. You have heard my opinion; what's yours?
All of you have a glorious Independence Day; it's important. The guys who put it on the line on July 4, 1776 did not agree on everything either, but they managed to put together a pretty good organization."

An "in your face" from my Dad.
: patriot:

Good elements to the story, I like the Texas thing, but I call BOUNCY!

So when your "opinion" is based upon FACTS,get back to us.

Maybe your dad will change his mind again when you stop his Kool Aid I.V.

What's a Bouncy?

Is that a good reason to vote for any president? And does it work? Voting for Kennedy didn't change a lot of the anti-Catholic prejudice that is out there. And did having Marion Barry as the mayor of Washington DC really help eradicate racism in the DC metro area?

What's a Bouncy?
You've probably noticed, but often times the inmates at the DUmp, in the midst of their BDS fantasies, manage to sit in front of a computer and type out coherent words. Their stories are fanciful and usually involve elements like:
spontaneous conversion of Republicans to voting for a candidate
secret admissions that Republicans are really Democrats
speaking 'truth to power' by the DUmmie
leaving a Republican dumbfounded at the DUmmie's brilliance
insulting a Republican to spontaneous applause from bystanders
and cops jumping out of the bushes (http://www.conservativeunderground.com/forum505/showthread.php?t=785).

Ah, ok. So a bouncy is a name for a story that seems "a bit much." But why bouncy?

Ah, ok. So a bouncy is a name for a story that seems "a bit much." But why bouncy?

Its coined after a DU member Bouncy Balls, who would make up these outlandish stories abotu Republican conversions or confrontations where the Democrat put the Republican in there place and always won the argument.

So when you hear the thread is a bouncy story, you know its a lame conversion or confrontation story that the DUmmy made up.

Gee... Anyone else notice that the talking points about the Bush Administration and the Middle East in the letter supposedly written by this DUmp monkey's dad sound EXACTLY like the talking points that someone who's been on the DUmp for years would use? I call "bullshit" on that whole "The propagandists for the Bush administration" bit.

And, by the way, bouncies are usually rated on a scale of one to ten bongs.

Dummies earn bongs by:

1) Starting with "So, I was....."

2) converting lifelong Reps to lifelong Dems

and what was posted earlier about what concstitutes a bouncy.

This one, for example, is pretty lame but at least it had a conversion so it gets a minimum of one bong.

Why is that all these so called letters, posts, or articles look like a Moonbat wrote them instead of a Republiician, Conserative, Libertarian, or an Indepdent penned them.

Remember a while back there was a " reformed Republician " that appeared on DU claiming that Conservatives/ Republicians wrongly put their faith in corprations.

The Moonbats never do any research on what others believe, or think; they just rattle off bullsh*t running around in their head and stupid enough to believe that'll fool anyone with an IQ above room tempture.

The whole lot of them are lazy and bad writers, with little , or no imagination.

If this had been a writing class, they would have flunked out years ago.

Elspeth. are you now a Hillary supporter voting MCCAIN?
How do you square that when she is backing Obama?
I THOUGHT The Obama supporters were no worse than her supporters
If you are a conservative which I am to a degree as well, then
are you a Lieberman dem or Zell dem? Or the new coined phrase
Hillary republican?
Seriously interested in the move of Hillary to Mccain.
There are many people on this board but not all conservatives are conservative in
all areas.
I am serious on the question of not backing Obama out of disappointment considering
she is campagining with him. How does one make that move in their political issues?
Mccain is not at all like the dem candidates althought some on this board think so.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
What are you dem views? What are your republican views? What are your independent views?
