Cali Police Robot Ignores Woman's Calls for Help, Tells Her To Get Out of Its Way

Leave it to California (https://www.westernjournal.com/ap-epa-california-homelessness-causing-poor-water-quality/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=eheadlines&ff_campaign=dailypm&ff_content=ttp)to introduce a policing “innovation” that makes Barney Fife look like Judge Dredd.

When the Huntington Park Police Force rolled out “HP Robocop” in June of this year, it was heralded as a major step for public safety (https://www.westernjournal.com/ex-ice-chief-unloads-local-pd-cop-punished-cooperating-feds-illegal-alien/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=eheadlines&ff_campaign=dailypm&ff_content=ttp) for its supposed ability to keep an extra pair of eyes on patrol without taking an officer off assignment.

“This is a big accomplishment for our city and introducing HP RoboCop shows innovation and the incorporation of new technology,” Mayor Karina Macias said (https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Huntington-Park-Officially-Introduces-HP-RoboCop-511472201.html) at the robot’s introduction.

According to NBC News (https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/robocop-park-fight-how-expectations-about-robots-are-clashing-reality-n1059671), when a fight broke out in Salt Lake Park, a bystander rushed to RoboCop and pushed the robot’s call button. Nothing happened.

LOL!!! :rotfl: It should do :taser:

Maybe robot development isn't as advanced as some try to scare us into believing it is? Or the police in CA are just going with the lowest bidder, as most government agencies are required to do.

And this one in the video obviously used someones old skates for the drive system, you could walk up and give it a thump and it would fall over. It reminds me of the two mono rails that were built in Houston in the early 50's, not too be used but to show the city fathers what they looked like and were capable of. One stayed in place for decades and finally when the population started getting so bad the roads all had to be widened they finally removed it. Now the real kicker is that the monorail used in Las Vegas and running to the state line to ferry visitors to Vegas without driving into Vegas, it is a very close knock-off of the old 50s monorail that was built in Houston. They both used a rubber tire drive system and the Vegas model had a major failure when it first started service. It really made our day to drive by that old monorail it was so strange to see and out of place when you're riding around in a 54 Ford sedan. I won't even mention the old skates we had as kids that used a sardine can key to tighten the claws to the soles of your shoes. Today's shoes are made of paper and glued so I don't think the old skates would work with them.
