Actually I am a yankee who is originally from upstate NY.... That area of the US is more like any area south of the Mason-Dixon line then one would think... It is New York City that gives the state the horrible reputation and dictates where the entire state goes. If you were around Syracuse or Rochester then one would think they are in a Mid-Western city then anywhere else.

There is actually an intense hatred/contempt for those of us from upstate NY by those from the City. And if you asked many people from upstate they would tell you that New York State would be best split into 2 seperate states... New York City/Long Island and North of the Tappanzee bridge.

So give us "Yankee's" a chance!

True, particularly as you're upstate. Gravity (or maybe just the promise of a bigger government teat to suckle) seems to have pulled most of the leftie/libs down into the Soviet Socialist Republic of NYC, ruled by Emperor Mike "Third Term" Bloomberg. Upstaters are much more righteous.
