Came home to rain tonite so we cooked indoors. This is a great way to cook brats. We just used a grill plate on the cooktop instead of the grilling outside part. Served on some pepperidge farm soft hoagies, some sauerkraut and stone ground mustard with pickles and chips on the side.
Also popped in the movie, The Ruins, good movie!
Beer, to cover
1 medium large sweet onion
2 ounces (1/2 stick) butter
Place brats in a Dutch oven with onions and butter, cover the brats with beer. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer until brats are cooked. Remove brats and set aside beer mixture. Grill brats until golden brown and return to beer mixture until ready to serve.
Oh man that's some good looking chow. I almost grilled some tonight using the same technique. For sure tomorrow and wash it down with a Fat Tire.
I might do something like this later...
And the ashtray's almost empty!!:D
I have always grilled then finished cooking in beer. I suppose it doesn't really matter, but when you do 'em indoors, the "brown then beer" method means you only have to use one pan. :D
dude, that looks awesome. I think I'll have mine with a hefewiezen. I nominate your threads as the most mouth-watering.
