"Obama's Humanitarian Hawk ."
Foreign Policy: If President Obama's non-war war in Libya makes no sense, blame his nutty security adviser "for multilateral affairs and human rights" — Samantha Power.
It turns out Power was the main White House aide agitating for military force against Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi. She helped overrule reluctant Pentagon brass by arguing force can be justified on "humanitarian grounds." She noted that "on a single day, Gadhafi killed 1,200" of his own people
Power redefines U.S. vital interests to include genocide, poverty and disease. To that end, she wants to pull troops out of Iraq and redeploy them to Darfur and elsewhere in Africa. She's proposed starting with more than 20,000 U.S. peacekeepers in Khartoum, and sending more to Zimbabwe — another hot zone of atrocities she thinks is crying for U.S. intervention
Part of the blame-America-first crowd, Power, a former New Republic journalist and George Soros pal, is also a 9/11 apologist. Most naive, she thinks Islamic zealots hate America because we back governments that repress them.
"It's not a coincidence that all but one of the 9/11 hijackers came not from axis-of-evil countries but from American allies, from Egypt to Saudi Arabia," she has said. "So this is the backdrop in which we're having conversations about foreign policy and responsibility."
Her supposition is absurd. Most of the hijackers were from affluent families. They weren't dissidents. They were religious fanatics.
Giving new meaning to bleeding-heart liberal, Power actually sees a silver lining to the 9/11 slaughter in that it helped "Americans empathize with the victims of genocide." Like Obama, Power believes America will be more secure in the world and face fewer threats if it practices "human security."
"Plus she's married to another of Obama's closest confidants.'Bleeding Heart' liberal Cass R. Sunstein ,Obama's head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs ."
