SLW and I saw an episode of HGTV - House Hunters where they looked at 3 places on St. Croix. It is a beautiful island but what caught our attention was the cost of electricity. It was friggen unbelievable.

try Costa Rica, they love having American ex-Pats and the land is cheap, monetary exchange is pretty close and very stable government

very true, traveling in a caravan is the best way to go. When I went to Belize I ran into a lady that had traveled down there with a group that were transporting some cars down from Vegas. That was 10 years ago and it's probably worse by now. I'm not sure about the guns though

I plan on shipping my stuff there (Panama) in a container. It will be insured and met on the other end by in laws. If they steal something, I'll send in the outlaws.:mad:;)
