Faced with an expensive repair, I chose to buy a new 2012 Ford Focus!
It's a 5 door hatchback, candy-apple red. I'm happy with it. It drives well and gets good mileage.

Bought a loan last year, they gave me a free Kia.
I'm so patriotic, I buy american cars. Not only that, I got one from the company that didn't take a bailout.
The day Ford makes a car that is fueled by green energy, is equal to a gas-powered car in every way (especially speed capacity), and is the same price as a gas-powered car, I'll buy it. They make a hybrid Escape, but I don't need an SUV and they are very expensive.
I also appreciate Ford for seeing what was coming ahead of time and hiring Mullaley to fix it.
I've had many American made cars over the years but after the last one I've converted to Toyota and so far I've haven't regretted it....By the way, just what is green energy for a car ?Are you alluding to Hydrogen as a fuel or perhaps solar panels with a windmill on the roof ?:D
Sweet Car. I like the Focus.
Hope you enjoy it muchly.
Congrats on the new car. The Focus replaced the ZX2 Escort. I had a 2003 and it was a great handling car for the price. At 140hp, I did pretty well auto-crossing it. Have not driven the Focus but I betcha it still has better handling than the Toyota and Mazda in that price range. I remember scaring the shit out of the salesman on a test drive cause I downshifted from 3rd to second going around a corner squealing the tires. He might have peed in his pants.
Good luck with the new car. I like red also, and I think I only got one speeding ticket in 4 1/2 years in my red 350Z.
