A G3 is a German made battle rifle, made by Heckler and Koch.
The semi-auto version (commonly owned by civilians) is the HK-91.
Before the G3, the nazi doctor that developed the rifles operating system had fled to Spain. His rifle was adopted there before the Germans were licensed to produce the rifle for their military.
My "G3" is actually a CETME that was reconstituted from a Spainish military surplus parts set.
I used to not know the difference between the two, so I named myself "g3shooter".
The name grew on me, so even after I learned the difference I still used it.

I learned to shoot on single action revolvers. They just feel right in my hand. I did go modern for my self defence weapons and have double action revolvers. :D
