]The second case of coronavirus in the US has been confirmed in Chicago — as health officials continue to examine 63 patients in 22 states

The latest confirmed case involves a 60-year-old woman who returned from Wuhan, China, on Jan. 13 and began experiencing symptoms including fever, coughing and shortness of breath three to four days later, health officials in Chicago told reporters Friday.

She was admitted to an unidentified hospital and placed in isolation while tests confirmed the virus. She is currently in stable condition and doing well.

My dad grew up eating rattlesnake. He told us his mother made the best canned rattler. She never made it for us. They were poor when my dad was a kid.

Of course, he told us that it tasted like chicken.

    Now five confirmed cases.

Of course, he told us that it tasted like chicken.

If that’s the case I would suggest he didn’t eat any. It taste nothing like chicken.

The novel coronavirus has arrived in Cambodia and Sri Lanka, according to local health officials cited by Reuters and the Bangkok Post.

The virus has now been detected in a total of 17 countries/autonomous regions

    Further down (update)

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, the Director of the Center for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), spoke on behalf of the CDC. During the press conference, she said that the US had identified 110 people who are under observation and being tested for the virus. While 5 cases have already been identified in the US, another 32 have definitively tested negative.

A couple of days ago, Zero Hedge decided to highlight a string of tweets by respected epidemiologist Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding wherein he noted some unusual characteristics of the novel coronavirus (nCoV-2019) that has swept across nearly two dozen countries since emerging in the central Chinese city of Wuhan last year.

Scientists trying to trace the evolution of the virus in order to understand how to contain it using knowledge gleaned from previous coronavirus outbreaks (SARS and MERS among them) discovered something strange: Initially, researchers believed that they had found a string of genetic code that hasn't been present in other coronavirus strains, but is similar to strains found in "the HIV-1 gp120 or HIV-1 Gag."

Now, Dr. Feigl-Ding later pointed out that subsequent research confirmed that some similarities have, in fact, been found in other known coronavirus strains. The similarities are certainly interesting

While Wuhan coronavirus is still on its way to spreading around the globe and a vaccine has not yet been found, China is now facing an outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 bird flu at a farm in Shaoyang city of the southern province of Hunan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The case occurred on a farm with 7,850 chickens, 4,500 of which have died of the bird flu. The authorities have culled 17,828 poultry following the outbreak, according to Channel News Asia.

China, however, is not alone in the fight for the latest outbreak. Authorities in India earlier this week started killing chickens and destroying eggs to stop the virus from spreading. In Eastern Europe, the H5N8 virus has spread throughout the area in recent weeks.
    Obviously Trump's fault.
