It is coolish here on The Mountain. The low last night was about 6 degrees. Tonight it may reach about 12 degrees. I know, that's not that cold for some of you, but it's pretty dadgum cold to me.

I actually like winter. It is great hiking weather when the temps are in the thirties or forties. Also, NO BUGS.

I hate bugs. Mosquitoes. Gnats. Flies. Really annoying. Chiggers are a real nuisance. Ticks are nasty and also are dangerous. The closest I ever came to dying from some disease was when I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which is spread by ticks. 8 days in the hospital. I almost didn't make it.

Every season has its own charm. Spring is the beginning of things. Plant a garden. Watch the world come alive. Summer is baseball and picnics and vacation. Fall is the color of autumn and the beginning of football season. Winter is snow and a time for recharging the batteries and catching your breath. At least to me.

TOTD: What is your favorite season, and why? AND, what is your favorite place to be during that season, and your favorite activities?

Cycling in the Low Country of South Carolina during the spring or fall is my personal favorite. Eating shrimp and enjoying island life. Walking the beach. Taking it easy.
Hey careful man! There's a beverage here!

6 degrees!? I was up in Lake Tahoe recently...it was 32 degrees (during the day) and I was freezing.

The weather in California is great, but you never really get "the seasons" unless you travel to the mountains or the desert or to Nothern California. I like winter and fall because the weather is moderate...not too hot or too cold. I love going to Arizona...Scottsdale in particular.

Back from grocery shopping. If you'e in and out by 10:00am there's practically no lines and no one getting in the way. It's now 21 degrees and sunny but I don't think I'll be working in the yard today.

stand in the middle of your cat's litter box. Turn up the furnace and wear a parka...have your wife throw some kitty litter in your face once in awhile.

It's really cold here to day. Hasn't even broke 50 yet. Other than that its a nice sun shiny day

    TOTD: Football Season.
