Senate confirms Amy Coney Barrett to Supreme Court, cements 6-3 conservative majority

Barrett will be Trump's third justice appointed to the Supreme Court, the most for any president since Ronald Reagan
By Tyler Olson | Fox News

The Senate voted 52-48 on Monday night to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in a move that makes the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals judge and Notre Dame law professor the third appointment to the high court by President Trump, solidifying his administration's legacy even further just a week before Election Day as he seeks a second term.

The last president to nominate three new justices to the Supreme Court was Ronald Reagan.

Monday's vote marked the end of a confirmation process that lasted less than 40 days from when late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died to when her successor, Barrett, was confirmed. During that time Democrats objected loudly to the speed and timing of the confirmation just before an election. Meanwhile, Republicans have touted Barrett's record as an academic and a judge as impeccable -- and her "Well Qualified" rating from the American Bar Association (ABA) whose representatives relayed descriptions of her as "brilliant" and an "intellectual giant."

Barrett is expected to be sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House on Monday night.

Bravo! This may very well be President Trump’s shrewdest move ... and he’s made beaucoup shrewd moves.

Senate confirms Amy Coney Barrett to Supreme Court, cements 5-4 conservative majority
Your FOX news link got their arithmetic wrong. Fixed it.

I am thrilled by her timely confirmation. It was absolutely essential in the event that (God forbid) our election gets into the court system. Roberts cannot be trusted. Just last week he voted with the leftist activist judges to uphold Pennsylvania's latest cheat-by mail scheme.

    Before anyone attacks Collins

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, was the only Republican to vote against Barrett
She's in an ugly Senate race right now, and many believe her support for Kavanaugh hurt her chances really bad in her blue state. So I'm not surprised she voted not to support.

All 45 Democrats and two independents who caucus with the Democrats voted against Barrett's confirmation.
This might actually be a bad thing for a few of them.

Brutal. Especially since she's been a liberal most of her life, only in the last couple years becoming an Indy.

Supreme Court May Revisit Pennsylvania Vote-by-Mail Case — with Justice Amy Coney Barrett as Tiebreaker

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...ebreaker-vote/

Moreover, Republicans have re-filed a challenge — this time, apparently, challenging the constitutionality of the power of the state courts to decide election issues. Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution states (emphasis added):

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
Note to Barack Hussein Obama: You were correct, elections do indeed have consequences.

I think she will be a very solid Justice who will only help the nation stay free as it was intended. I don't see her deciding cases with a conservative agenda but only as a constitutional thing as it should be. So if I live long enough to see some of the future cases I won't be upset to see some things not go 100 per cent conservative. In reality they can't all go our way. We have made more progress for our future under Donald Trump than a lot of people realize. The judges he seated are going to make tremendous difference in our fight to rid the nation of these socialist and communist and stop the unlawful decrees that we've seen so many of lately.

    Here is the real deal.

If Biden wins next week. He'll pack the courts with radical judges.

If Trump wins, then it will mute any hope of doing that in 4 years, as they will not have anything to point at that the courts are bias and they need to do it.
