I think the fact that he fired the gun in the air to "show support" for a friend being in a bar fight qualifies him for SOME sort of idiot award, even if he falls short of the coveted Darwin.

Thick as a Brick comes to mind .Why would he fire a gun in the air to show support if he claims he knew it was empty?Very strange critter,he is very close to a Darwin but not quite there !
