I really do believe that sometimes the "repuke" just stops talking. One of my son's friends has a flaming lib mother. I used to try to talk politics with her. Now, I just nod my head and say "really?" because I know it will shut her up faster.

    Really? ;)
At Coretta Scott King's funeral in early 2006, Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert Kennedy, leaned over to him and whispered, "The torch is being passed to you." "A chill went up my spine," Obama told an aide. (Newsweek)

If people really want to know how horrible Carter was, all they need to do is to look at what he did.

The military was cut so badly that an alarmingly small percentage of equipment was actually functional due to a lack of spare parts.

Intelligence was cut back so badly due to his administration and the rules made so restrictive that a VERY strong case could be made that the errors made about WMD's in Iraq was a direct result of Jimmy Carters policy.

His actions concerning Iran led to the rise of radical Islamic factions that are the largest threat to civilization this world has ever witnessed.

His economic policies were so bad that DURING an ELECTION YEAR even he spoke about how bad the country was doing in his "malaise speech".

How bad was our econonomy then??

In the aftermath of Carter's disasterous policy, the unemployment peaked at nearly 10% just after Reagan took office - but before any of Reagans policies took effect. (compared to roughly 5-1/2% today)

Wages dropped by roughly 10% in REAL terms. (compared to increasing @2-3% under President Bush)

The 30 year mortgage rate was nearly 19% (compared to 5.75-6.5% today)

Inflation was 13.5% (usually under 4% under Bush)

Carter did so much damage to this country that we are STILL paying for it today.
