She's hardly the first First Lady who's personal style doesn't really stretch to official functions. I'd say she's like a lot of women from her educational background who feel vaguely uncomfortable in dresses and skirts. She may not previously have worn them enough to know what suits her body type. Not everybody can carry off a pencil skirt. The colors don't flatter her but she's hardly the only woman who persists in dressing in colors that she likes for decor instead of colors that play up her skin tones. I resisted yellows for years but I look absolutely terrific in anything from Buttercup through Gold.
