California Assembly Joins State Senate in Approving Budget
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The California Assembly has joined the state Senate in approving a long-awaited budget, sending the package to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger after an epic battle that involved several all-night sessions and political concessions.
The budget flew through the Assembly less than an hour after it won approval by a single vote in the Senate after late-night horse trading to win over a final Republican.
The budget included a combination of spending cuts, tax increases and borrowing, intended to close a projected $42 billion budget deficit and to stop a fast-arriving fiscal disaster for the state.
I can't wait to find out which wuss RINOs caved in to this. This is so fucked up. This week, my Fiance and I decided to get our house ready to be put on the market. We are very lucky to have a ton of equity in it despite this shitty market.
My Fiance runs a successful business, but we are going to pack up and get the hell out of this state. The only thing that really keeps me here is my mom, but Nevada or Arizona isn't that far.

Arnuld, the RINO, and the crazies on the left will continue to spend and tax cause their boy is in the Whitehouse. They can count on a bailout so why should they worry about the budget being billions in the red.

They said 1 R crossed the line for a number of concessions. Ditching the 12 cent gas tax hike was one of them, and primary election reforms that allowed anyone to vote for anyone was another.
I don't think he went seeking pork, it sounds like he actually demanded some good concessions before he went for it.

Exodus II will be starting pretty soon. I can only imagine the tax burden in CA!"If every poor man is to come here and start requesting money for all his children, the applicants will never be satisfied and the nation's finances will collapse." Emperor Tiberius: Tacitus:Annals

State income tax increases to 0.25% - I am hearing it goes from 10.5% to 10.75% starting at $45,000. I am not too sure about this one because I remember the rate being around 9%, but even at that rate, that's a lot of tax for very little income.
Vehicle license fee nearly doubles to 1.15% - Currently I pay about $255 each year to register my 2006 Acura TL. Next year it will cost me just over $500.
Sales tax rises 1 cent - Statewide will be 8.25%, but there are some cities/counties that already pay this so their tax will go to 9.25% or higher.
Gasoline tax rises 12 cents a gallon - Thank God this got taken out, but we are still fucked.
Surcharge on income taxes of 2.5% to 5% - When I file my state tax return and end up owing them money, I will have to pay a tax on the taxes I owe. WTF!
Dependent care tax credit reduces by $200 from $299

Thanks for that breakdown cat. Colorado isn't quite that bad - yet.
This does not make sense!
Surcharge on income taxes of 2.5% to 5% - When I file my state tax return and end up owing them money, I will have to pay a tax on the taxes I owe.
Leave it to socialists to devise a way to milk more taxes out of people."If every poor man is to come here and start requesting money for all his children, the applicants will never be satisfied and the nation's finances will collapse." Emperor Tiberius: Tacitus:Annals

Know what I think about all this.... Good raise those taxes...
Now before you get the spit to roast my rear, think about it.
Most of their problems in Cal are the entitlement programs, the liberal pork projects that help keep them in power, and automatically increasing government programs that are written into their constitution that lawmakers don't even vote on.
They have three choices here, but I see them doing only one.
1. Cut the spending.
2. Cut spending and raise some taxes.
3. Raise every one's taxes to a point of putting people into poverty to keep all their nice entitlement programs and pork projects.
I see the last one happening.
Now consider Cal. has been liberal the last few decades, before that it was leaning to the right. Both in Governors and General election voting. Liberals now have it thanks to their entitlement spending. But that spending now is costing them big, in the form of massive tax hikes to pay for all this.
Latest reports now is people are leaving Cal, because taxes are too high, jobs are disappearing thanks to liberal punishment of corporations, and out of control Nanny State politics.
Leaves one thing, if those leading don't change (Liberals) then change those leading. Which means the more Libs muck up Cal. the greater the chance of it coming back to the GOP.Klaatu barada nikto
