Unless you had a disability of some sort, why would you use an electric can opener? It takes like 5 seconds or less to open any can.
I have one of the can openers that opens the can without leaving sharp edges, and I really like it. You just have to remember that it goes parallel to the top of the can rather than perpendicular like a normal can opener.

I used to have an electric can opener, but the sound just gets my dog and cat begging for food. I use an old-fashioned kind.

I know it goes in a different place. I still couldn't attach it at all. I could, however, easily open the cabinet door and pull out the trash can, into which that type of can opener became flung.

I don't even remember the last time I used a can opener of any kind. All the cans are made with those pop tops now.

No the scary part is that someone leaves kids in the care of someone who can't work a can opener to feed them.
His wife probably comes home to a cat wearing a diaper and a toddler running around nekked with kitty litter glued to their butt. :p
