Let's bubble-wrap the whole fucking world.
We had a local basketball league that didn't keep score until 8 years old. Most everyone decided taht it was stupid and started keeping score again.
Exactly. It's goddamn pathetic and embarrasing to see articles like this.
I am one Brit that is getting sick and tired of the whole creeping nanny-state, the ever increasing aversion to even minor risks, the frakkin' "are you sure" culture, and I'm not the only one who feels this way.
My daughter has played for about 10 years. In slow-pitch, every batter would walk if a 6 or 7 yr old was pitching. In fast pitch, a youngster just can't throw it fast or accurate enough. I have an orthopedic doctor friend who tells me he sees high schoolers who started around 10 and have totally trashed their arms. A good bit of that is poor pitching technique. Over the years I've seen hundreds of different girls pitching. A great many depend on arm strength alone to hurl the ball 50+ mph. They won't be doing that long. :(
In 2005 as 14-Under, National Champs. In 2006 as 16-Under, Second Place. :)
