Honest kid ruins Iranian TV show

An Iranian children TV show was axed after a girl said her father named her toy monkey after the country’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The show’s seven years of success didn’t stop national broadcaster IRIB from axing it following the embarrassing live episode. The final episode is to be screened next week, reports the Guardian newspaper on Wednesday.

A conservative website, Jahan News – quoting ‘reliable sources’ – said the decision was prompted by the ‘high financial and spiritual damage’ inflicted by live broadcasts. It didn’t name Iran’s leader directly, but did refer to a child who “compared its doll to one of the well-known authorities.”

The show had faced similar gaffes when other naïve children were also seemingly oblivious to issues sensitive in Islamic society. In one instance a kid, when asked to hand the phone to his mother or father, said he couldn’t, because they were in the shower together. At least she didn't say her mothers were in the shower together! :D

    Original Article Feb 25 (Link):

An Iranian girl may have given father a real headache after she revealed on live TV that he named her toy monkey the same as that of the country’s president.

The gaffe happened during a live broadcast of a popular children show ‘Uncle Fornaj’, reports a local news agency. The show host asked a young caller whether she was a good and obedient girl.

She said ‘yes’ and that her father gave her a stuffed monkey doll. "My father calls it Ahmadinejad," she responded to the follow-up question.

The media didn’t reveal whether Iran’s President Ahmadinejad knew about the incident or if the honest girl’s father faced any consequences for the choice of the toy monkey’s name. Maybe Britain could grant them asylum.

I don't know about Ahmedinejad, but PETA should be up in arms over the insult to monkeys. :D

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!
