TOTD: How'd you do on taxes?

Seeing that April 15th is a mere 13 days away, I thought I'd see how we all made out this year on flushing our hard earned cash down the Government toilet!

I didn't file in 2007 (I submitted an extension by April 15th, but when October 15th rolled around I was in Iraq and forgot :eek:), so this year I had to file 4 W-2s, for 2 years with both the Marine Corps and my part time job.

I paid $239 in Federal for 2007, got a $6 refund from state. :p

I got $806 in Federal for 2008 and a $16 refund from state.

All in all, I made out ok. I paid over $6,000 in Federal taxes alone for 2007 & 2008 and received $806 back, so I guess I'm paying my "fair share".

How'd you make out?

I have my W2's set up so that we pay as little in as possible without having to own an arm and a leg come taxt time. Now this year was fun though becuase when we did our taxes one way we owned 500. When we did them another way we got a 450 refund. Guess which way we filed our taxes . . . .

The only thing I liked about Huckabee! Neil Boortz, Larry Elder and any THINKING American will agree, the Fair Tax is the way to go. :D

We hire a suspicious and evil accountant to do our taxes. She despises the IRS and believes that a tax on income is simply sinful.

Needless to say, she makes sure that we pay as little as humanly possible. I think we owed $6.00 bucks this year. :p

We paid $48k in Federal and $17k in state.

We are getting back $600 some-odd from federal and $1100 from state.

Mighty white of them to give us back a tad.

We would have gotten smeared harder but we didn't sell a lot of stock this year. Frakking Alternative Minimum Tax is what hit us in the shorts.

Ahh, what they oughta do is collect all taxes on April 15 not during the year, then we would see people start to get upset. You would be writing out a check for $47,600 and $15,900 that would wake you up!

We paid a shit-load twice a month and still wound up paying about 5K when we filed.

I don't think active military, police or firemen should ever pay taxes. Seems like putting your life on the line doing your job for lousy pay should be enough tax paid.

Just get rid of the 16th amendment... just like our founding fathers wanted.

They wanted a very small federal Government.... most things that the federal government does nowadays, should be done at the local level. (abortion, education, fixing/adding roads/bridges, ETC...)

That is where the taxes should go. If it is kept at the local level, it will be easier to get rid of the corrupt politicians, or you can always move and vote with your feet.
