Another 62,000 jobs gone in June - the 6th consecutive month of job losses, according to a U.S. Labor Department report yesterday.

The world's largest economy has now shed 438,000 jobs since the start of the year.

"If there's no recession, someone forgot to tell the labour market," David Rosenberg / Merrill Lynch.

Don't worry - Be happy.

Yet no change in the jobless rate.

The people who lose their jobs either act like DUmmycRATS and whine and cry all the way to the unemployment lines, or they act like responsible adult Conservatives and they get another job.

Not taking an accounting of reality every once-in-a-while allows folks to slip into a semantics game regarding the purchasing power of their dollar. This is the method of our government presently. Working two ten-dollar-an-hour jobs isn't quite the same as working one for twenty - with benefits. GWB saying we're not really hurting and that $600 of our own money is going to fix it, is just plain stupid.

But that will be a fond memory if and when Obama fills his position.

I am laughing at all this doom & gloom. Exports are up and the economy is growing at a slow rate but according to the naysayers it's the 1970's all over again. Damn, 18% home rates and the Jimmy C. malaise days are upon us. The sky will be falling next. BTW, the unemployment figures stayed at 5.5% for last month but to listen to these LOSERS you would think we had EU unemployment of 10% like Germany.

I am retired; you have parroted the same talking points on several occasions. Five years from now, there will be the big 2 instead of the big 3.

Because of the stupidity of management and the unions over the last 30 odd years, Ford has a monkey on its back with retirement costs and health care costs. It's their own damn fault. I guess you do not realize that every car that Ford produces there is around $2,000 built in because of these benefits. It does not make any difference if they go to China or the moon to build their cars, the Japs are eating their lunch; their labor cost are less and they will not have retirement costs in this country for many years.

BTW, stick to the article because it does make a shit if I or you own a business; the topic at hand is the problems with Ford with lower sales. The problems with Ford started in the late 70's. I owned one of their shitty cars back then. Their cars are getting better and they have almost raised the bar to begin to compete with the Japs but they have not gotten there because of perception of building shitty cars made in the past. The big 3 deserve losing market share because of their own ineptitude; that's why people are getting laid off at Ford. If you have not figured that out, you do not know anything about the automobile business.

So the cost of materials, tools and coolant has gone up 18% in the last six month for American companies but not for Jap and German auto makers building cars in the US. I wonder how these smart ass foreigners managed to do that. They sure are some sneaky devils. :eek:

You are the ignorant one because the cost of fuel and materials of all automakers in the US including foreign ones have to pay the increased (same) costs. The unions and management have boxed themselves in because of piss poor labor negotiations and retirement benefits in the past. If you dispute that , then you are the one that does know squat about the auto business. Let make it simple for you to understand; every AMERICAN car that comes off the assembly line has $2,000 of overhead cost built into the retail selling price of that vehicle due to retirement benefits and health care benefits for retirees. The Japs & Germans DO NOT HAVE THESE COSTS.
