The rains have temporarily stopped here in Pleasant Valley and the day thus far, while still a bit overcast, looks promising. However, the forecast is for 70% chance of rain, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope. The weather and general laziness (one one of our parts, at least) kept us at home last Sunday and I'm hoping to at least get up to Northampton today for a brief outing.

No plans for tomorrow. I'm flying back to KainTuck this week but haven't decided if I'll travel on Memorial Day evening or wait until Tuesday morning. And, next weekend, it's off to Hawaii for 10 days! :D

    Reading Eliot this morning...

    I grow old … I grow old …
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.
Which leads me to the Sunday ...

TOTD: What is your secret regret? What do you wish you had done in life that you didn't, not because it was too expensive or because of personal ties, but rather because you considered it too dangerous, too crazy, or even too forbidden. Perhaps because you thought it would change your life forever...

OR perhaps you have no regrets and you're completely content with your life. You have no great desire for which you would, at one time,...

    Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

For I have known them all already, known them all:—
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
    I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
    So how should I presume?
BUT, perhaps you do. Perhaps it was not taking the chance on a romantic relationship because you considered the other person too unstable, too unpredictable.

Perhaps it was going to university rather than running off to a bohemian life in Paris or Prague...

What was it? If you could go back, would you gird your loins (figuratively) and go for it? If you did how would it have changed your life? Do you think about it with continual regret...

I cried for madder music and for stronger wine,
But when the feast is finished and the lamps expire,
    Then falls thy shadow, Cynara! the night is thine;
And I am desolate and sick of an old passion,
Yea, hungry for thelips of my desire:
I have been faithful to thee Cynara! in my fashion.

70’s now 80’s later sunny but soggy from evening rain yesterday.

I never skydived. Someday I’d like to jump out of a perfectly good airplane while it’s flying.

The sun is out this morning. I don't think I've seen it in a week.

TOTD: I can't think of any right now. My regrets tend to be things I shouldn't have done not things I wish I had done.:D

    Rhymin' Simon once said...

A good day ain't got no rain
And a bad day is when I lie in bed
And think of things that might have been...

I would like to have lived out of a car going cross country camping and fishing and working part of the time to buy gas and food. My notion would be to drive until I pick up an interesting quirky little local AM radio station and finding a place to dwell based on the range of that broadcast and see what happens.

Our quirky little local AM station just went from 250 watts to the awesome power on 1000 watts.
Hey careful man! There's a beverage here!

75 degrees today with the possibility of thunderstorms later.

Regrets? Not taking better care of myself and not finishing school. Wish it were deeper than that.
