I know it is not close to March Madness yet but I just had to stop in and say it.

I'd like to see Kentucky do well this year and am enthusiastic about the new coach and team. I'm a Southeast Conference Football fan and have always followed Florida, Georgia, and LSU on the gridiron but never cared for them in basketball. Kentucky was always the team for me in basketball season.
Good luck to the new coach.Hey careful man! There's a beverage here!

Correction... the LOLcats are back!!!
The problem in the next four years will be not just that the president of the United States serially does not tell the truth. Instead, the real crisis in our brave new relativist world will be that those who demonstrate that he is untruthful will themselves be accused of lying. - Victor Davis Hanson

After watching Pete Maravich at LSU for many games, I kinda lost interest in college basketball. Even Shaq did not show me that much as a college player. I was also fortunate to see Bob Pettit as a kid. Kentucky is my second favorite team.

I remember Pistol Pete too. Shaggy socks and all.
And Bob Pettit?? Damn, you must be as old as I am.
For a long time Kentucky basketball was 'Americas team' like the Cowboys were in the NFL.
Some of the luster has worn off lately but when a game is played in a neutral site the stands are always about 5:1 or more in the Cats favor.

Yep, I am an old fart. I got to see most of Pete's games as my BIL had season tickets. Tickets were hard to come by during the time he played.
I went to the same high school as Pettit. He was 2 years ahead of me. I enjoyed watching him play there but the most entertaing baskeball player I ever witnessed in high school was Jim Taylor who also went to Baton Rouge High and went on to play pro football for the Packers. When he got the ball on a rebound those elbows would start flying and anyone stupid enough to get close to him would be laying on the floor.
Kentucky and LSU had some great rivalaries during the early 50's.Last edited by lacarnut; 05-25-2009 at 11:00 PM.
