After all his years in service to this country, Senator Jesse Helms passed away this morning.

    It starts innocently enough.

    33. You can't imagine how frustrating it was that he ALWAYS won. We tried to

take him down SO many times. It was heartbreaking when he beat Gantt back in the 90's
after his racist campaigning...so yes, I'm glad he's gone.

    29. Old bastard probably couldn't bear living under a Negro president

Rot in hell, you anti-American piece o' crap.

(First time I've ever posted such a sentiment about such a marginally sentient being.)

    30. Good riddance to another racist homophobe
As a native and life-long resident of North Carolina, I viewed this man as an embarrassment to the state that I love, and someone who pandered to the most disgusting, vile, hate-filled elements of our society. I'm glad to see our state now rid of this pox.

Now as soon as the entire Bush, Cheney and Rove clans are eradicated from this earth, it will be a much gentler planet.

    35. As a gay American, I must say I won't miss him. Condolences to his family. Updated at 9:54 AM

And to the only way that could possibly silence his brand of bigotry, with apologies to his family.

Nice folks over there, compassionate too.

Senator Helms, if you're listening, your political service was appreciated, and my sincerest wishes to your family. You did a lot for this country, and even in death, you are still pissing off the liberals. Good job, and happy trails.

And that is why they are considered the party of compassion and inclusion.

Sorry to disappoint that sadistic prick 'Ensho,' but I heard Helms' passing was quiet and peaceful, with the doctor saying he (Helms) was quite comfortable. Oh, and then there's all the lovely sentiments that 'Riddler' made, about wanting to wipe out the entire Bush, Cheney, and Rove families.
I'd say a good way to define someone's character is by looking at how they react when someone they see as an opponent for whatever reason dies. If such a thing happened here when a prominent Democrat died, I think we'd stay respectful, judging from such things as how we responded to the news of Ted Kennedy's brain tumor. In contrast, whenever a prominent Republican, conservative, and/ or Christian dies, the DUmmies quickly begin rejoicing and spewing out all kinds of disgusting and hateful remarks about the deceased.

Well, DU is certainly predictable. As soon as I heard about this, I knew they'd behave like scum. I have to admit, though, I find their idea that death and sickness = punishment intriguing. A scary peek into their minds. That kind of thinking went out of vogue with the Puritans, yet liberal progressives ressurected the idea as "karma". One more way liberal progressives are trying to mold politics into some perverted version of religion.
