Oppositon Arrests: Mousavi and Karrubi, along with Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, brother of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khatami, met at the home of Hashemi-Rafsanjani to plan a response to the election fraud. Mousavi issued a letter denouncing the election and saying “the traitors to the nation’s vote have no fear if this house of Persians burns in flames.

” Karrubi issued a statement calling the vote “engineered” and the result of “amateur fixing.” Later Musavi, Karrubi and Khatami, along with his wife (granddaughter of Ayatollah Khomeini) were arrested or placed under house arrest.

All leaders of the opposition Islamic Participation Front and the Revolution's Mujahidin Party have been rounded up.

85 percent of Iranians boycott religious dictatorship's election

NCRI - The social headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside the country announced that according to eyewitness reports from 25,000 polling stations across Iran, the real voter turnout was 7.5 million, and more than 85 percent of the 51.2 million eligible voters boycotted the mullahs’ sham presidential election.

The theocratic dictatorship, which has never allowed international observers to monitor elections in Iran, usually inflates voter turnout by 4 to 5 times. The Iranian Resistance has exposed this level of vote-rigging in previous election shams. The real level of support for the regime is no more than 3 percent, and the rest of the votes are either forged or the result of various threats and intimidations.

Quoting reliable sources in the election headquarters of the regime’s Interior Ministry, the Iranian Resistance on Thursday exposed a confidential directive by the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to announce voter turnout at 35 million and declare Ahmadinejad the winner in the first round.

Five days prior to the election, a group of sacked employees from the regime’s Interior Ministry released an open letter exposing astronomical vote-rigging at the election headquarters of the Interior Ministry in a special center for producing figures and forgery known as the ‘Tally Room’. These individuals said that in previous elections they witnessed various fiddling of figures and ballots, adding that in the past they “feared about losing our careers and kept silent, but we also felt guilty and that still continues.” They added that a senior cleric of the regime who was one of Tehran’s Friday prayers leaders had in a “secret meeting” asked them to rig the vote and “change the ballots” by misusing verses of the Quran. He had said that “for you as election officials obeying any order is obligatory” because “the religious decree to rig the votes has already been issued.”

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has defended his "completely free" re-election as Iran's president, amid violent clashes on the streets over claims of election fraud. Mr Ahmadinejad condemned the outside world for "psychological warfare" against Iranians during the election.

Thousands have protested against the result, burning barricades on the streets of Tehran and clashing with police, who responded with tear gas. Reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi urged his supporters to avoid violence.

Instead of being a formality, these elections have seen an explosion of pent-up anger against President Ahmadinejad Iran's presidential election was not supposed to be like this - days (and nights) of giddy excitement and political mudslinging and anarchic scenes of a sort that the tightly-controlled Islamic republic has not seen since the revolution. The Guardian Council selected three male candidates - a hardline conservative and two relative moderates - to oppose Mr Ahmadinejad, and rejected 470 others, including 42 women. All three were political insiders: Mir Hossein Mousavi was a former prime minister, Mohsen Rezai a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards and Mehdi Karoubi a former parliamentary Speaker.

Then, suddenly, everything spun out of control. Perhaps it was the unprecedented series of six live television debates in which Mr Ahmadinejad and his rivals let loose, hurling charges of corruption, fraud, cronyism and mendacity at each other. The deep rifts between the radical and moderate conservatives in Iran's political elite had never been exposed in this way before.

This time the revolution will not be televised but it will be social networked.

What maybe the Second Iranian Revolution illustrates the power of social networking sites like twitter, blogs, youtube and flickr.

They have completely superceded the MSM as the best source of information. In fact on twitter, CNN is being excoriated for it lack of coverage - #cnnfail

The Iranian government belatedly has realized the power of these sites and attempting to cut the internet, cellphones, and satellite dishes.

I'm stunned by the courage of some of these people who are trying to get inform people on what happening in iran.
