I had "jarts", tonka dump trucks, bow and arrows, model airplane kits and wrist rockets.

Oh they do - but they're all made of plastic now instead of metal.

I noticed that they don't have clackers on that list of toys . . . .http://www.bigredtoybox.com/articles...ersindex.shtml

I think my mom still has my brother's metal fire trucks. They might be worth something, now.

When I was about 2, a neighbor kid whacked me across the face with a metal Tonka truck. Although it didn't break my nose, I had chronic nosebleeds thoughout my childhood and adolescence because it burst the blood vessels.

They stopped making the trucks out of metal at some point in the 70s. I remember buying a plastic one for a kid I babysat for in the late 70s, and being surprised it was made out of plastic.

Great Commercials. The one with the elephant is a classic. I have never seen the one with the Tonka Truck supporting the car wheel and an actual car driving on it. Cool.
Hey careful man! There's a beverage here!

We had them, and no one ever got hurt. The volleyball games we kids played with the drunken men in my parents' group of friends were a whole different matter.
