Via Hollywood, the mainstream media, and the school systems, the Left has created a number of positive myths about their ideology, none of which stand up to the slightest amount of informed scrutiny.

Liberals are compassionate: Liberals love nothing better than to talk about compassion and caring for the poor -- but, only when other people's money is involved. Studies consistently show that conservatives give more money to charity than liberals. What's supposed to be compassionate about robbing Peter to pay Paul to vote for you?

Liberals are intellectuals: Liberals portray themselves as brilliant intellectuals who are so much smarter than the riff-raff out there in flyover country. Meanwhile, back in the real world, they run presidential campaigns based on "hope" and "change" and the intellectual roots of their philosophy could be explained by a caveman. Abortion good! People who want to stop abortions bad, bad, bad! Gay marriage good! People who want to protect marriage bad, bad, bad. It doesn't matter whether it's a college professor, a rocket scientist, or Barack Obama -- they all turn into cousin Cletus, the mountain simpleton who lives out by the hog pen, when you try to get them to explain why they believe what they believe.

I'd add first off that the left has created the myth that they are liberals when in fact they are progressives, statists, and socialists - all of which is ANATHEMA to true liberalism.

Interesting read, but when you click on the Studies Show link it goes to another site called right wing news.

As an exercise a though about substituting the word 'conservative' for 'liberal' the article and see how it read. Sometimes it didn't work -- but sometimes it did.

There's good an bad everywhere -- hypocrisy and GOP are not mutually exclusive.

Unless I'm dump diving, my links go to conservative sites! This is a conservative site! TownHall is a conservative site with links to other conservative sites. All liberal sites have a streak of insanity to them.

Let's just put it this way -- there are some very compasionate conservatives, and there are some who are not so much.

There are many conservatives who are pro-women, and some who are not.

There are many brilliant conservative thinkers--and...well, I think you get the point...

Neither party is exactly was they portray all the time.

And when saw the word 'study', I naturally assumed it was going to be a link to something more academic with data and statistics and whatnot. It was a link to an interview in which the subject of the interview said:

There have been numerous studies that have shown that conservatives are happier people than liberals.

Other then that, there was no studies or data sited.

Liberals are tolerant: Liberals are extremely tolerant -- of people who agree with them or of foreigners who hate America. Everybody else? Not so much. If you happen to say, try to give a conservative speech on a college campus, say that you believe marriage should be between a man and a woman after you're asked about it in a beauty pageant, or believe science has led you to draw a different conclusion than liberals have in regard to global warming, you're not going to see much tolerance on display.

Repeatedly, we read news articles about conservative talks at colleges being shutdown by intolerant liberals. Strangely enough, the opposite happens so rarely that I couldn't find one article. Of course, that would be because, even at college age, conservatives value free speech...even stupid free speech...while liberals feel it appropriate to silence anyone that disagrees with them, and to accuse them of hatred for that disagreement.
